Year 12 Art Show
When: Thursday 12 December – Monday 27 January
Where: Maurice Chick Family & MacLeod-Miller Adamshurst Gallery, MAMA
Enjoy an insight into the creativity, innovation and unique perspectives of young people from the Murray region, with our annual Year 12 Art Show.
Students from Beechworth, Corowa, Walla Walla, Tallangatta, Albury and Wodonga were invited to participate in this annual showcase, with a shortlist selected by a panel of local curators.
This is the first time, for many of the young artists, that their work might be publicly displayed simply as an artwork, an object to be appreciated, rather than the result of an assessment task. It is chance to gain feedback on their work outside of the education environment. The exhibition also provides insight into the experience of exhibiting artists, with both the thrill and vulnerability that comes with producing (often very personal) artworks that are put out for public review.
A favourite exhibition among the local community, is is an opportunity to celebrate the quality and diversity of works that are being produced at local schools, and a chance to reflect upon the valuable role artistic practice plays in the development of self-identity.
Presented in collaboration with ArtsSpace Wodonga.
