Celebrate the opening of artist Shivanjani Lal's solo exhibition Pani begets Pani.

Shivanjani Lal is a Fijian-Australian artist whose work uses personal grief to account for ancestral loss. Recent works have used story-telling, objects and video to account for lost histories and explore narratives of indenture and migratory histories from the Indian and Pacific oceans.

Pani begets Pani is a large-scale installation of video, ceramic and paper works that navigates water as a site to account for history and creates a conversation around ritual and monuments. It asks the questions how much history does water hold? And who is allowed to tell this story?

Bar will be open throughout the event, cash + eftpos available.

Meet the Artist

Shivanjani Lal will offer a short reading and opportunity for a audience Q&A with the audience prior to the official opening from 5.00pm – 5.30pm.

All welcome.
