Artist Talk: Kate Smith with Michael Moran

Headshot of a woman wearing a black top. She has sholder length brown hair and is smiling. In the background there are two artworks hanging on a white wall.

Join us for a conversation with Wagga-based painter Kate Smith and MAMA Head of Curatorial and Collection Michael Moran. Smith’s ever evolving practice celebrates spontaneity and quickness and flits between the figurative and abstract - as seen in her current exhibition Shampoo Studio. The conversation will delve into what motivates Smith and her ability to create both heartfelt and on occasion ironic work.

About the artist

Kate Smith has exhibited extensively across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand including in significant surveys of contemporary art at National Gallery Victoria, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, and Heide Museum of Modern Art.
