Celebrate the opening of the biennial National Photography Prize, as we reflect on the contributions of the 12 shortlisted artists, and announce the recipient of the $30,000 first prize, and the $5000 John & Margaret Baker Memorial Award for an emerging artist.
The announcement formalities will occur from 5.30pm – 6.00pm. The opening celebration will commence following the announcement, with the bar opening from 6.00pm.
The artists selected for the 2022 finalist exhibition represent a breadth of Australian photographic practice. Their concerns encompass First Nations relationships to Country and storytelling, artists’ personal histories, families, communities and languages, environmental and climate action, the history of photography and agitations for the medium’s future.
