giyawarra-nanha gulbalanha / disturbing the peace is a significant exhibition of First Nations artistic practice, drawing together twenty-one works from the National Gallery of Australia, plus key works from the Murray Art Museum Albury collection.

First Nations artists have long been giving voice to stories that might otherwise have been silenced in favour of the colonial narrative. giyawarra-nanha gulbalanha / disturbing the peace creates a dialogue which rejects acts of silencing and at times engages in the language of protest, but in doing so it draws our attention to the devastating disturbance of the peace that First Nations peoples have experienced from the moment of colonisation.

Featured artists: Avril Quaill, Christopher Pease, Danie Mellor, Jonathan Jones, Judy Watson, Julie Dowling, Karla Dickens, Lesley Murray, Lin Onus, Liz McNiven, Michael Cook, Ricky Maynard, Roy Kennedy, Sandra Hill, Tony Albert and Vernon Ah Kee.
