Jahnne Pasco-White: Composing Worlds

Fabric in natural tones draped

Image Supplied.

Jahnne Pasco-White’s new commission for the MAMA Kids Gallery offers a place for kids to play and experiment with pattern and form, revelling in the colour of the artist’s painted and dyed materials layered and hung through the space. Moveable armatures encourage visitors to create their own spaces for play and rest through shifting and draping materials.

About the artist:

Jahnne Pasco-White’s expanded painting practice incorporates methods such as botanical dying, staining, assembling, drawing, painting, collage, sewing and repurposing. Pasco-White’s process is increasingly defined by colour drawn directly from plants and wastes: dyes and stains extracted from garden and household matter—leaves, bark, textiles, spices, food scraps and weeds—fixed to recycled linens and cloth, and worked up with drawing, sewing and collage into large-scale canvases.
