Unrequited Love (The Great Magpesis) was an exhibition that had personified ‘the creative process’ and ‘the art world’ into a being-like entity called ‘Magpesis’, pronounced mag-pie-sis. This name was made up through combining the Ancient Greek words mania, obsessive, mad love; agape, spiritual and unconditional love; and poiesis, the act of bringing something into the world that didn’t exist before. This exhibition explored Sarah McEwan's relationship to being an artist, where it often felt like the Magpesis will never love her back!
