Kids Workshop: Clay Heads

Build your own head full of character from clay in this fun workshop for kids.

In this creative clay workshop children will be able to design and build their own clay head (also known as a bust) based on a human or animal or imaginary creature, whilst learning skills in clay, such as shaping the clay, attaching features and creating textures.

This workshop is for primary school-aged children, run by our experienced tutor Fleur Bamford.

Workshop Outline Welcome & Introduction

An overview of the workshop, including an explanation of the equipment, materials, and project. Examples will be shown and discussed for the children to understand the concept.

Demonstration

A step-by-step demonstration of the techniques, including how to begin building a sculpture, how to attach features effectively, and add finishing decorative touches.

Creating

Children will have the opportunity to create their design on paper first and then begin sculpting with tutor support to help them to achieve their goals.

Guided Support

The instructor will pause at key moments to demonstrate next steps to the group or provide individual assistance as needed.

Participants should have completed at least one year of schooling (Kindergarten/Foundation or equivalent).
