Material Play with Pinky Wittingslow

Kids will learn how to apply printing, stencilling and mark making techniques to fabric while making a fun and practical projects to take home each week. They will learn different ways of applying their own design to textile products while exploring new materials. 

WORKSHOP OUTLINE


Week 1 Students will learn how to make a repeating block printed design and apply it to a fabric bag.

Week 2 Students will learn how to apply their own designs to a pencil case using the cyanotype process.

Week 3 Students will learn how to use stencils, and layer wet and dry materials to create an artwork on a fabric banner. 

Week 4 Students will explore new textures by using a mono-printing technique on a geli plate to print onto their own t-shirt.

What to bring

Covered-toe shoes
Water bottle
A plain and washed shirt in your child’s size to print their design on in the week 4 activity
Aprons are available, but please make sure your child is wearing clothes that are ok to get paint on.

This short course is designed for children aged 6 - 12 years.

Meet the Tutor: Pinky Wittingslow

Pinky is a local Multidisciplinary Artist and illustrator who lives in Wodonga. Pinky’s practice is informed by her love of nature and gardening. She is a fierce advocate for artmaking as an essential communication tool which transcends communication barriers. Pinky is an experienced tutor who loves to support people of all ages and abilities in finding their artistic voice and to help their creativity to bloom.
