Murray Art Museum Albury is excited to announce the selection of artists for the annual youth exhibition, RAW 23.

RAW is an annual open call for young people of the Murray region. Artists aged 16 – 21 are invited to submit an artwork, or a small series of artworks, for consideration for a group exhibition.

RAW aims to highlight the creative strengths of local young people, inviting anyone with a passion for art – whether they are attending school, are formally trained or none of the above – RAW showcases the best original artworks being produced by young people of the Murray region.

10 artists have been selected to participate in the 2023 showcase: Angelina Barker, Toby Robinson, Lilly Cranston, Marlo Gaukroger, Jack Bergin, Ashlee Smith, Tegan Gibbons, Elias Waldegrave-Knight, Clio Waldegrave-Knight, Alannah Barnes.

Selected artists have submitted their work independently with a range of mediums including photomedia, digital art, watercolours, drawing, acrylic paint and assemblages to feature in the exhibition. Artists are currently studying at schools across the Border and wider region with students from Albury High School, Beechworth Secondary College, Billabong High School, Catholic College Wodonga, Wodonga Senior Secondary College, and Xavier High School represented.

An important aspect of the opportunity for participating young artists is a series of professional development tutorials by MAMA curatorial staff covering aspects of concept development, artwork preparation, and exhibition installation as well as feedback for future projects.
