Nina O'Brien: Domestic Theatrics

This collection of photographs and videos revealed the rollercoaster of emotion and energy inherent in family life. Artist Nina O'Brien opened her audience to the private moments in her own family life. Sometimes her daughters were behind the camera creating unexpected scenes and perspectives.

The artist offerred us a portal into the daily drama between siblings, keenly felt happiness and camaraderie, anger, injustice and threats of violence, dealt out in rapid succession. This is the reality of family life played out in the suburban backyard each day.

This evolving body of work featured work primarily by Nina, occasionally interspersed with images taken by daughters; Ruby and Scarlett.
