Band Weaving with Pinky Wittingslow

Sit and share stories at this traditional band weaving working, a cultural tradition in the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. 

Inspired by Inga Hanover’s Dainas exhibition, this workshop is designed for those seeking to explore Baltic heritage in a hands-on approach. Story-telling and sharing is highly encouraged in this peaceful workshop.

Worn from cradle to grave, these handwoven bands are rich with symbolism and designs unique to each region and play a significant part in the everyday lives of Baltic peoples. Learn this ancient art through weaving your first band in this one-day workshop.

All students will receive their own band weaving back-strap kit to keep and continue their weaving journey. Included in the workshop cost.

Meet the Artist


Pinky Wittingslow is a multidisciplinary artist and the Studio Coordinator at MAMA.
