Explore contemporary collage to confidently cut and paste your way to self expression, play and creative protest, with local collage artist Donna Caffrey.
Donna will help you realise your creative potential by guiding you through effective collage techniques and composition, with a day of creative play, conversations and community in this cosy winter workshop.
What you will learn
To start, Donna will share examples of contemporary collage art, techniques and materials, followed by a warm-up exercise using both torn and cut papers and glue to make your first work.
You will have the choice to make a series of small individual works, one large piece or a booklet.

A brief history of collage and review some of the works of well-known artists.

Quick exercises to develop techniques and ideas
How to make two basic forms of folded books that you can use in your practice

Optional collage items to use in your artworks, such as memorabilia, old books or magazines, and scraps of material
Firm covered-toe shoes

Clothes that can get dirty
Kitchen facilities are available for you to bring your own lunch, including a fridge, kettle, and microwave.
Meet the Artist
Donna is a local artist who’s practise currently focuses on analogue collage and hand stitched textiles. She explores both domestic and environmental issues through her work to spark connections and conversations.
Donna is an exhibiting artist with her most recent solo shows include Mirrow to the Multiverse at Hyphen Gallery Wodonga, BLOOM ROOM at Gateway Gallery Wodonga and Blooming Again at Federation Art Space Corowa.
With community and connection as her key driver, Donna facilitates supportive workshops for all ages and promotes the importance of art play for wellbeing.
