Writing Back: Responsive Writing Activity

Participate in a spontaneous writing opportunity stimulated by one of the 43 paintings in Zombie Eaters. Responses can take any form – a poem, a description of a scene, a fictional story, or an imagined dialogue with a figure in a painting!

Throughout the Write Around the Murray Festival Museum staff will lead daily sessions, introducing the exhibition and artists before challenging participants to embrace a particular painting and respond creatively. No prior art knowledge or writing experience is necessary, this activity celebrates the unique experiences that each of us have when appreciating art.

Zombie Eaters is a celebration of recent Australian representational painting. The work of 32 artists spanning the 1960’s to the present illustrate painting’s enduring ability to contend with artistic, political, cultural and personal challenges.

The activity will be held inside the gallery spaces, stools are provided. Please bring your own notebook and a pen or pencil. There is no obligation to share writing with the group, however, there will be opportunity to do so if you wish.

Open to all ages and writing abilities.
