In this new body of work, Free Medicine, Albury-based photographer Matthew Scherf took inspiration from the architecture of the local area, exploring the qualities of hard light and stark geometry. The exhibition presented moments of light and shadow on the mundane and overlooked facades of familiar buildings, while also serving as an examination of the artist's sense of belonging to the Albury area.

Matthew Scherf is an artist working with photography. His process involves algorithmic frameworks and includes methods ranging from 1800s dodge and burn techniques, to use of blockchain and 3D rendering. Free Medicine is his first institutional solo exhibition.

Scherf is also a psychiatric nurse, providing care to the Albury community that has been his home for over 20 years.
