Sonic MAMA

Murray Art Museum Albury

Music performance, video art and the artistic gold waiting to be discovered in our own backyards come together in an exciting new exhibition being unveiled as part of the official opening celebrations of MAMA.

Sonic Splendour is the work of the leading music video creator and award-winning photographer, Andrew Pearce, who is best known for producing music videos for such international acts as Eskimo Joe, the Temper Trap and Duran Duran (which earned him a Best Pop Video nomination at the 2012 UK Music Video Awards).

The exhibition will feature nine of his music videos including three specially
commissioned for Sonic Splendour, which showcase the talents of emerging
regional artists, singer-songwriter-musicians, Jessica Drummond, Adam Dwyer and Matt Ortiz.

Andrew Pearce, Bianca Acimovic curator of MAMA and producer, composer and music director Vic McEwan chose these talented artists to be part of MAMA's Backyard Bonanza project which offered regional, young, committed musicians a rare chance to launch their careers with the help of music industry professionals.

They each worked with McEwan at his state-of-the-art sound studios in regional NSW on the recording of one original song. Pearce then worked with each artist to produce an industry standard music video.

These recordings and videos will be shown as part of MAMA's suite of opening

In a further exciting move, each of the musicians will perform their
work live on stage at MAMA's official opening celebrations on Friday 2 October 2015.

This project is supported by Arts NSW's Country Arts Support Program, administered by Regional Arts NSW and local Regional Arts Boards on behalf of the NSW Government.
